Summer ends, parties go on.

I ask, when does this end?

Parties, skanks, people who can barely stand on their feet. Maybe it is the heat, but maybe it is way too much partying.

It has been rather hot lately, that is true.

What happens at the end of the festival season? NOTHING. The night life goes on as it was.

Sziget is finally over, and if you got the chance to see Prince, well then, good on you.

Let us see what is in line for those who did not get enough.

Tonight:

START OF THE EVENING: You may want to go to the Why Not BAr and watch the fireworks from there. THe place is friendly, small and well located, so it is a good start for your night.
Address: Belgrad Rakpart 3. Google map it, I am not your mummy.

After that, go to:

Chicken Exit - for girls and friends.
Location is not the bestest one - it is in Tundergyar, which is basically a hell hole.
It is ugly, torn down and completely stuffy.
But it is the only lesbian party tonight, so you basically have no choice. Also, some gay men will be there who believe in supporting the gay economy. I approve that, if only the place was nicer.
Mind you, it is always wise to dress down in these events. Skanks are in in here. They are so hot right now. Sizzling!

I wonder when will Budapest introduce some air conditioned places? I also wonder when will Budapest introduce some places where you are not afraid to sit down because you might tear your dress or at least stain it with something naaaaasty....

DISCLAIMER: I am not complaining about Chicken Exit, It is a FINE event.
It is those places, one trashier than the other....

Is sex overrated?

I leave it to you...

Other upcoming parties are as follows. Confetti decently announces relatively okay events (at least Orfeum, the club where it`s at, is clean). The next one in line:

1. Confetti Gaywatch
WHEN: 27th August
WHERE: Orfeum

Yepyep. That`s it from me!

Vanity

Tonight!

If jazz and funk is your thing, and you are out of ideas/plans for tonight, you might want to consider the following:

Orfeum presents: Summerfest 2011
A diva's night - Kati Rácz and the Flush
Jazz, funky and pop classics performed live with a cabaret diva

An award-winning Hungarian jazz singer with a unique voice, Kati Rácz is a genuine diva of funk. She began playing classical music at 16, and before the age of 30 she had toured the whole of Europe and half of the world.
Kati Rácz performances like fine wine, improve with age and reach perfection on taste and appearance. She takes her audiences on a magical journey through live orchestra concerts performing jazz and pop classics from the 1920s through the 1950s. In performance with the Flush.

Show time: 9 pm.
Doors open at 8 pm.

Vanity Repents

Vanity has been a bad little girl and did not manage to update her blog in a while.
If you are an avid reader and could not go to party because of this horrid, horrid slip out of mine, I want you to know that I would be terribly sorry if I did not spend that time hedonizing my senses off! Yes, that is right. I chose my pleasure over yours, and even though I am not sorry about that even for a split of a second, I need to repent cause I want my readers back nevertheless. I think that makes a lot of sense!

Anyway, it is not like you missed a whole lot of events the previous weekend.
There was the usual Confetti party, themed Africa, and there was the Össztosokk. See, these parties happen ever so often anyway.

Now that I have confessed, I am ready to repent. Ideas into the inbox please...We dont want the world to know what horrible things I would agree to do.

And now, back to business!

This is the list of upcoming Budapest gaydom events:

1. Orfeum presents: Summerfest 2011
Burlesque - Hot revue with a Hollywood vibe and divas.

This is some kind of a fancier event. The tickets start at 3900 ft, and go until 9900 ft, but then it includes not only a show, but a three course dinner and champagne. Budapest does not see burlesque shows too often though so I guess that is the reason why the price is not too friendly for Budapest measures. Anyway, let us hope burlesque gains popularity so that it can be seen in other contexts as well.

WHEN: 27th July
WHERE: Orfeum Bar, Erzsébet krt. 43-49.

2. Ösztrosokk Summer Party for Lesbians and Friends

I always have problems with typing Ösztosokk. Could not they think of a type-friendlier name?

WHEN: August 6th,
WHERE: Grund Bar, Nagytemplom utca 30

That is it for now...
I will tune it soon!
XoXo,

Vanity

A look back...

How was slutwalk?

I did not go! I wanted to, but I was chained down to bed by a horde of dancing demons and tortured with feathers on my nipples until i regretted all the times I dressed up as a slut! I only pretended I regretted...

Oh no!

By the way, I saw the pics from yesterday's march, and I have to notice that I expected much more in your face sluttines. Had I not been stopped, ahhh...
A secret source tells me there had been around a hundred protestors/sluts. Not bad, but still sounds weak.

Anyway, here is the dip of the day:

Thursday, July 14, 2011

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

And another thing...

How freaking lame of me, I almost forgot to mention this:

(someone should punish me for that!)

HEREBY I COPYPASTED WHAT THWY SAID:

Budapest's newest gay community invites you for its traditional get-together (singing, chatting, meeting etc.).
There's Plan B in case of raining.

Location:
Plan A: Gödör Klub grassy area ♥
Plan B: inside Gödör Klub (http://godorklub.hu/program/2011/07/8)
Look for GlitterDickLlama and the tea lights!
http://mkkp.hu/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/csillamfaszlama.jpg

When: 8pm, 15th July, Friday

It's a public event! Bring some friends!

(♀♀, ♂♂, ♂♀ etc.)

FRAZZLE DAZZLE!

Wednesday is the day that signals close proximity of the upcoming weekend. Weekend, jeeeej, shops are closed, swimming pools are only selling their full day tickets and I need not to go to work. But hey, what does that mean, weekend...Is not it summer? Who the hell works in the summer? It is holiday time!
What good is a life in which all meaningful things you do are in the weekend? I do not know. Maybe you should kill yourself then. I did not, and look where it got me.
Amm, awkward digression.

That is right. If you are reading this as a tourist in Budapest, hoping to find something hot, gay and interesting, then fear not! Almost everyone is gone out of the city and there will be plenty of place for you! People go away from the concrete, they go to that Balaton lake, festivals, or anywhere else where they can. It is almost as if evading the concrete walls guarantees you a place in the atomic shelter.
Honestly, that is kinda ridiculous cause summer is the best season for Budapest!

You might be, just like me, stuck in here for the whole summer, for some strange inexplicable reasons, like me: I need to update my blog! How can I let my readers down? What will they do with their time?

There is no place for despair. Even if you are not on a holiday, there is no reason why you should not act as if you are. Okay, getting a tan is easy. Dropping to the swimming pool after work is not only refreshing, but also productive! Of all the hot bods you check out your circulatory system starts functioning as if you were twenty again! HAHA!

If the romkocsma is your thing, the ruined, run down, really trashy places that are for some reason very hip, then you might go out each and every night, and the next day when you go to work, you will already look sick and convincing enough for your boss to let you go home. Damn those summer cantines for spreading the virus!
Or you could just go out queer-spotting, cause the 5th district is full of new open air public places where the (relatively) young gather up and hang about.
Also, Capella is open, and so is Coxx and Action Bar. They may be empty but there is always a similar lonely soul looking for just the same thing you are looking for.
And now let us see what prospects await us in the upcoming weekend:

1. Ladytron concert at the Hegyalja festival. Saturday Night. Google for more info, for heaven sake it is summer, what do you expect?! Do not let me go through it, it is painful enough that I am not going!

2. Open-air techno. Tomorrow, Friday. Now this is mystical, truly exciting, the organizers gave the following address:
Ten minutes away from Boraros Square, even on your way home! Take 23 bus or 923 night-bus to get to Timot street, then get of and walk until you get to the house number 160 - (after eleven 158), press 160 bell-ring, and follow the further instructions.

Seriously, is it cold war and I did not notice yet?

3. Tomorrow, friday: Budapest Night Bites vol. II...What a pathetic and lame title.
Still, line up may be not so bad. Where? Club titles: U26 Clubshop. Address: Teréz krt. 55-57.

4. This should have been number 2, but okay.
Another  candidate for the IT concert of the month :
WHAT: NOSAJ THING
WHERE: A38!
WHEN: Tomorrow, Friday!!!!!
DAMAGE: 1500 FT.

5. XENO AND OAKLANDER!!!
Scroll down for more details, I wrote about this....
WHEN: Saturday!

And now, the moment you have all been waiting for, for me to bugger of:)

Enjoy!

Dip of the Day

Oldie, but goodie.

Here you go:

TONIGHT! and tomorrow:)

I shall say this only one more time:

1. Brutko is tonight. Scroll for details!

2. HERCULES AND LOVE AFFAIR is tomorrow in Zamardi. It is within a fesival, but hey, that is damn worth to go and see even if you are going for that one gig.
Find more info here:
http://www.sziget.hu/balatonsound_english/line-up2011/-/days

3, Likewise, SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO is on Sunday, in Zamardi.

4. OOOOOOOOOOOPS, I almost forgot to remind you (though I already wrote about it):

ZUMBA + AfterPride PARTY with OSSZTROSOKK!

WHERE: Cooltus Club
WHEN: Saturday 9th July

5. If nothing works for you, go cruising. There is a nice post about it dating from May. Nothing changed since anyway.

SLUTWALK BUDAPEST!!!!! YEAH FINALLY

Take that bitch!

And now take this bitch!

Right in your puritan ass-licking double faced excuse of a face!

And then dare to say, that my dress made you act that way? Does it have some strange hypnotic powers that come as an extra and I did not know about them?

Should dresses come with warning signs, like cigarette boxes:

WARNING: MAY CAUSE PEOPLE TO SEXUALLY ASSAULT YOU WHILE WEARING THIS PRODUCT.

WARNING: WEARING SEXY CLOTHES MAKES YOU SUBJECT TO RAPE

WARNING: WEARING THIS ITEM MAY CAUSE PEOPLE TO TAKE YOU LESS SEROUSLY

Hmmm.

I am very glad Budapest has organised this march. For several reasons.
First - the problem of women being charged with serious legal consequences and guilt for something that was not within their scope of their responsibility - is a problem, a huge problem, not just in Toronto. Known Hungarian public personnas have gone talking about women as conscious victims live on television and or radio without any holding back, without any consequence. A high percentage of Hungarians (32 per cent) think that it is a women's fault if she gets raped. - These data are taken from http://slutwalkbudapest.blog.hu/2011/07/05/slutwalk_budapest_ribancseta_a_nemi_eroszak_ellen_luvnya_kialtavny_2011_julius_20.

Go there for info in Hungarian, or do not, cause I am giving you a decent gist of the story.

Second, I get to wear my finest, sluttiest outfits for the right cause. Hoho, was I waiting to wear my skin tight pink mini dress with braces at the front!

The march info:

WHERE: gathering at GODOR, Erzsebet ter (just look for the sluts, not too hard to miss out if hopefully there will be enough of us), them marching: Gödör - Vörösmarty tér - Váci utca - Ferenciek - Astoria / back to  Gödör

WHEN: July 20th, 17:00 - 18:00 (5 to 6 pm)

OK???

TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR RAPE. It is not to be pinned on someone's dress.
On a lighter note, but no less annoying, think of all the nasty comments a woman gets just by walking down the street. Those assholes should have their pie-holes filled with some concrete just so they stop commenting on someone's appearance. Like, look at that fine piece of ass....Thank you very much, you need not telling me I have a fine piece of ass, I am well aware of that without your precious input.  LOOK AT THAT NASTY PIECE OF BEER BELLY AND BAD MANNERS !

Now get your slut kit out and show them motherfuckers what sluts do not tolerate anymore!

Tuesday, July 5, 2011

WHEN: 16th July,
WHERE: Roham Bar, Vas utca 16
DAMAGE: 1000 ft

See you on both of these!

Vanity

Dip of the Day

My choice for the queer musician of the day:

Homophobe of the Month Award!!!

Juhej! Time of the month for name calling and ostracizing, juhuhuhu!

Look at this:

This is an event that happened last Saturday, 2nd July. The title, Hetero Felvonulas can be directly translated as The Straight Pride. Yup. You are not hallucinating. This is what is going on. No Joke. No Pun. Just a cruel fact. They thought they need another festive event to celebrate the heterosexist practices. Talking about not being aware of one's privilege. Let me quote Pam, my second most favorite character of True Blood: 'Let these people practice their constitutional rights to be total idiots!'...
Oh Pam, absolutely love her...

Another quote, when she went down on one fine Ukranian lady:

'....Lay down and think of Ukraine....'
Ohhh, if only I could have such imaginative and actual, factual lovers!
Okay, that was off topic!

Even though their facebook event shows 555 attendees, the actual heterosexual pride only gathered about 40 people. I can not decide who among them was the most proud one, so I decided to give the award to all the people who organised the event, joint under the umbrella organisation self-titled: Vedero. Translates as: Protective Force. Find them here: http://www.vedero.hu/. I looked at their page only to find that one of their main goals is to shape Hungary into a militant country, which would allow the youth to practice 'home protecting skills'. Whatever that meant. They also claim to be not political. They only wish to protect. Protect Hungary from them heterophobes. They seriously used that as a slogan.

I hope they value the award and are not too selfish to divide it among themselves equally.

NEW COLUMN: Dip of the Day

Yup.

It is time I start terrorizing you with my music choices!
You knew it was coming, it was only a matter of time! (Evil laughter...)

I am going to dip into the very problematic theme of queer music.
I know you can go ostracising me for such a bad choice of words, queer music, what the hell does that mean?
Well, I am not sure myself.
I think definitions will change with each video.
Let us look at the first one, something I found while browsing through my favourites on youtube (yes, I was that bored).

I will actually let this one speak for itself. Now, do you like?

Activity Checklist

Hi my dears,

two more after pride events popped up so better check your schedule and make room.

If you are a lady and willing, see it this works for you:

WHAT:  AfterPride Party : Ösztrosok

WHERE:
Cooltus Club
Bp. V. Teréz krt 55
Budapest, Hungary

WHEN: 9th July, 10 PM

Wait a minute, what is this club? It is just a wink away from Club Underground...Well, let us hope this club has a better reputation.

Another thing is the Zumba event:

WHAT:   AfterPride Dance Night

WHERE: Cooltus Club, same address as above

WHEN: 9th July, 8 pm

DAMAGE: 600 ft

Okay, it is pretty clear now both events take place in the same place: so it is almost the same event, except the motivation: the party is intended for the Pride volunteers, and the dance is intended for just about everyone.

Ok?

XoXo,

Vanity

Some Saturdays are Worse than Others

This Saturday I did something I should not have done. What initially started off as a fun project - to go and see all sorts of downtown bars, hopefully run into people I know, and just hang about as if I just don't care, it got downplayed as a waste of time rather than a means to unwind.
My friend, a proud male breeder, was really excited about going out with me thinking that he would get more lady attention that way. Little did he know: A) If there is any attention - I am the one to either get it or give it, in other words, I am a very selfish friend, B) he had serious hardships finding anyone who is even remotely attractive. Poor guy had no chance to start with. I was equally frustrated.
We went to this place called the Mika Tivadar Mulato and then later to an equally nasty Fogashaz. I have no words to describe misery I encountered.
Meat market is the word. But usually, if you wanna sell some, you usually make it look nice. You do not bring just anything on the table. Even if you do, you pimp it up with whatever you have, highlight the good sides, make the ugly ones invisible and set out to score some. It was a Saturday night, I was not mistaken. These people were actually thinking they might score some looking like that. I will not extrapolate the depths of my disgust I had to overcome when shaking off some what I think was a truck driver who had just finished his 20 hour shift on a hot summer day. Eeeeeewwwwww.

What we witnessed is the absolute lack of any of the above mentioned practices, we were trying hard to see someone even decent looking, but what we saw is the parade of the despair.

Do not get me wrong: I am not talking about simply being ugly. I am talking about not caring about looks.  It is neglecting the possibility to make yourself look acceptable, respectable. The thing is, those people knew something was wrong. You could read it on their faces, disappointment with what they see, as if they painfully realised that what they offer is not a single notch better than what they see of they look around.

We left early enough not to see what happens when they give in and lower each other standard's a couple of notches.

Thank unicorns I went home and had a decent wet dream so I could forget about those horrors.

Do not misunderstand me. I am not telling you not to go there. I am telling you not to go there looking like that, and hoping you can feast your eyes on eye candies, cause the cute ones have simply gone somewhere else.

I believe this tune can describe my sentiment:

RAZZLE DAZZLE Top 3 upcoming events, plus tips for tonight! 24th June

Moving on after the pride, let us see what lovely events await us, so we can all go gaying about.

Before I go for it...

I am imagining AlterEgo as a dog who pooed in its own house, and I need to train it by nudging its nosie into its own poo. How does this feel, doggy!

I was thinking about AlterEgo's slip-out during the pride week. Which one, would they even know what is wrong (if they were reading this)? The punishment is needed. But how?
It would help to issue a public apology.
and a month free entry to those individuals who were denied entry.

However, I suspect they are not even aware of the problem. Just like a dog does not know that it should not poo in its house, unless it gets training.

Here doggy-doo! How does it feel to sniff your own poo?
Ammm, anyway....

Moving on to brighter subjects: partying and gaying about.

Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you a hot list of upcoming happenings!

1. Brutko Diszko

WHEN: 8th July
WHERE: Durer Kert

The super fancy flyer:

This, my dears, is the it happening of the Budapest queer scene. When I say it, I mean it. You will hear more about it soon.
All you need to know for now is that it will be super hot, in a place with decent sound system, and a DJ who knows how to spin worthy-of-my-attention-beats.

2. Chicken Exit

WHEN: 1st July

WHERE: Tundergyar

Here is their flyer. I hope noone will think that cyrillic letters are used in Hungary on regular basis.

From Jun 26, 2011

This is the 20-something girls' favorite. But this party is not exclusive, it opens its doors to all sexes alike. You will find more women there, so finally we have a decent all girl party! Juhej! Musicwise you may expect dancy trendy tunes, unless they get too deep into obscure indie, which kinda ruins it for me. Different folks, different strokes!

3. Confetti - Szentivánéji Álom / A Midsummer Night's Dream

Confetti strikes back to bring us this dreamy event.
Be aware that bear and all drinks in general are quite pricey (that is if you are dealing with an average Hungarian incomes), as Orfeum bar is claiming to be somewhat luxurious in comparison to other places. Last time the music was unforgettable, but only because it was so cheap and cheesy. Hope they worked on that, or at least, hope that you do not expect too much of a musical experience when you go there.
More man than woman.

WHEN: 25th June
WHERE: ORFEUM

I will come back soon.

Tip for tonight: Night of Museums
It is simple. Get a ticket and go to a lot of museums tonight - find more info here:

The March

Dear all!

I was at the pride! Damn right I was. Proud at the Pride!

Vanity does not give empty promises. I borrowed my friend´s camera, held onto it with my sweaty hands and tried to capture a little bit of what was going on, just so I could bring you a little treat: march mini-report with photos! Yeheah!

This is how it looked like at the beginning, round 3:15 pm, when people were still gathering. Can´t see much more other than that there is quite a decent amount of people, which eventually grew to be round 4000, and it would have been much more if the rest of the marchers were allowed to join the march from Oktogon.

From march

Stuart Milk was there!

From march

He quoted parts of Obama´s annual proclamation of June being the Gay Pride month. At least, I think it was parts of that proclamation, since I could not understand and/or hear it too well. Thanks to my secret source (S.B.), I was informed that just a day before the Budapest March and Milk´s speech, Obama´s spokesperson denied Obama´s 1996 survey, that is, denied that Obama himself filled in the surveys. You can find them here:

http://www.windycitymediagroup.com/gay/lesbian/news/photospreadthumbs.php?APUB=wct&ADATE=2009-01-14&AGALLERY=obama

After my source asked Milk whether he was aware of the repercussions of that information the reply was somewhat dimmed: "it goes back and forth" (this is a paraphasis, so do not go ostracising me for this). Or something like that. It would have been nice to know that such surveys are found more important than just giving them out to assistants to fill them in.

Okay, let us see how it went. I found this lady with a charming tattoo:

From march

And the Eurogames crew: Which reminds me to inform you of the upcoming Eurogames next year, to be held in Budapest. Oh Yeah!!!

From march

This lady was pretty hardcore on her trumpet, yet she made it look so easy. She did a great job:

From march

This sea of people, all priding at the pride. Spot the cute girl at the lower right bottom of the photo. I wanted to take a picture of her only, but was too shy to ask. Ehhh....

From march

A huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge, several meter long rainbow flag:

From march

Spot the lady in the uniform. I think I saw that outfit in a sex shop. It looks good! Uniforms are sexy!

From march

Kokarda, quite a successful design:

From march

Now this is interesting:  I literally passed under the rainbow. There is an old Croatian short novel (Dinko Simunovic: Duga, 1906), about a girl who wanted to pass under the rainbow, because there was a legend that if she did that, she would turn into a boy. Her motivation was clear: as a girl she was denied possibility to play and run around freely like other children did (namely boys). All she wanted was some equality. It is a sad story, because she died attempting to run under the rainbow - she got stuck in the mud of a swamp and drowned. Had her parents been more understanding and allowing, she would not have suffered such a tragic end. EHhh, sounds familiar...Parents, give your children right to breathe the way they want to!

From march

Like this one, who was not shy to let me take a photo:

From march

Then I met my friend Jodi, who was walking around in a rainbow dress that she made just that day, especially for the pride. She made it with her bare hands. I plan to nominate her for the Homofriend of the Month Award for this month:

From march

After that, at Oktogon square, we met the Haters!!! Oh my! They were fierce, especially this dinosaur at the front. The words he shouted were quite ugly, but they sounded quite ridiculous, as he basically managed to  embarrass himself instead of the marching crowd he wanted to insult. He should be held at a museum.

From march

Austrian drummers made a great atmosphere. Even though police was really helpful all throughout the March, it is a sad and tragic shame that after the March some Haters managed to attack two Austrian marchers and then the marchers were taken by the police for investigation instead of them Haters. That is a bad slip, Police. Otherwise, officers were rather well organised during the March itself.

From march

Then there was this lady, she was rather shy, but she still let me to take a photo:

From march

Maybe a bit off topic, but I will squeeze it in because it is important. I heard of another tragic story, that a day before the march a couple of Roma trannies were denied entry to  AlterEgo club. Shame on you AlterEgo!

For now that is all folks. Hope you enjoyed....

Do not forget that you can still catch the flick tonight at Muvesz Cinema, the theatre show at Komod, and the finishing discussion/workshop is happening at the moment, I guess I was late to inform you of that.

I am like the Terminator: will be back soon!

Vanity

Thirst for celebrities and some more ranting

Just thinking how Rome Pride had Lady Gaga rocking it on the piano, and Budapest has ammm, nothing similar. Not that I am actually jealous for what they had, but at least some kind of proximity would have been nice.

Maybe next year?
Hopefully, because we have no international pop stars, and if the reason why is that they are damn pricey, no local celebrities are listed on the show list either. Would not it be nice though? It seriously does not need to be Gaga, I am sure there are other musicians who would gladly support Pride with their participation. For a little compensation perhaps. Hint hint.
Ammm, nevermind;)

Look at the main party, the Rainbow party on Saturday evening. I was looking, but I do not even know who the DJ is! This artist anonymousness is slightly annoying!

WHERE IS THE SHOW???

Noone has invited famous names? That was not important? How do we bring together politics, social change and art?

Oh, this brings me to something else. Look at this event:

Stylewalker Night. Friday 7 pm untill Saturday midnight.

I will not go into it with too much detail, but the point is that a bunch of designer clothing and/or objects shops are open  until midnight and you can shop with discounts.

That is on Friday, when secluded parties take place. Well, could not they have pushed this event a week after? I would not mind going shopping actually! AHHH damn. Nevermind.

But then this:

Stylewalker AFTERPARTY. Saturday evening.

Yup, that is the time of the Rainbow party night.

These designers, organizers of this event and shop-owners, all of them together could have been a little bit more supportive and push their programs a week later because some would actually like to participate on both events. Am I too demanding? Maybe, but that is no reason not to demand more!

Anyway. I am sure there are more important things to complain about but still...

Speaking of art and social change, they have added a photo exhibition to the Pride program, see it today and any other pride week day at LIMO CAFE, or where LIMO CAFE used to be: Belgrad Rakpart 9 at 4 pm.

Also, tonight is the free microphone night!

Pride Week

I might be as boring as a fly that woke me up this morning, but once of anything good is never enough.

This is the Budapest Pride week. There are plenty of programs.
I have already listed them in one of my posts, so please scroll down, look at the program, and see for yourself what you would like to see and/or participate in.

My highlights for instance:

yesterday's speed dating for women.
today's theater show at Komod theater
tomorrow's open microphone night at Mika Tivadar Mulato.

My concern today is the culmination of the pride week: the march itself. Many of my friends would say, sure, that pride thing is a great thing. Are you going? Naaah, I will just stay at home and watch it from the comfort of my armchair. Then, the following day I will complain that I need to hide the fact that I have a girlfriend because my work colleagues would find it troublesome.
One day you are granted the possibility to be visible and ask for more visibility and you throw it down the drain.
I know what you are thinking, one day???
It should be all days, all the time...
And I agree, it should, but it is not yet, not in Budapest, and there are many little steps to be done in order to get there.
I do not believe in little steps.

Well, I do not believe in your complaining then!

Complain at the right time, at the right spot, when the possibility is given.

Join the march. The more, the merrier.

I will be there!

XOXO,

Vanity

Pride and such

I tried, I gave it my best, but when Gaga opened her speech by referencing her artistic and musical journey, I just  could not keep on watching because I know that what is to follow will seriously infect my brain with a load of useless and pompous nothingness. Somewhere along the way, she openly supports Budapest Pride, and a celebrity doing that is always a good thing.
If you must torture yourself and you are into listening to her ramble (at your own peril):

Surely, she recognizes her audience and will not forget to cheer them, which is always a good thing. Know where your milk is coming from!

TONIGHT!!!

As I have informed you already, tonight is the pride opening party titled Hungaricum, at Capella Cafe.

If you choose not to ponder about the repercussions of the video they made for advertising this event, I warmly suggest you to go there.

Otherwise, other places will be open just the same.

AlterEgo for instance if that rocks your boat.

No Photos, Please!!! Szkafander 10th June

It was an out of the ordinary midsummer´s night. Almost.

After all the razzle dazzles, it is prime time to report about how it actually went.

I am rather undecided about the fact that I did not take any photos. Firstly, the abundance of incriminating material that the participants of last night´s Szkafander party provided could have made me a notorious person. What power, I grudge to myself infested with ill-spirited revery. If only I had made some pictures....On the other hand, I might not like the feeling of being ostracised by my own kind. Whatever that meant.

Anyway...

Thank Unicorns for couch-surfers, random tourists and heteroflexible straigters!!!

Otherwise I would have known almost everyone at that party and that would make me a very dull and unhappy little girl, grabbing onto her favourite and rather over-washed, by now almost falling apart teddy bear.

As I have suspected, the ´mixed´ party was indeed mixed, but the gay vs. gayelles ratio was, again, in favour of the gays.
It is a new way to play peek-a-boo!

Here are some made up statistics:

Crowd: men to women ratio: app 75 to 25 per cent

Looks: quite a decent number of hot guys and a less decent number of hot girls, but that is only cause there were less girls to start with.

Scandal ratio: ammm..nothing juicy. The speakers went off for a couple of minutes, but that only added oil to the otherwise quite heated atmosphere.

Music: DJ Minek delivered indeed. Nice electro-pop and tasty Madonna and Kyle remixes.  Appropriate and highly enjoyable. My only complaint refers to the last hour of the set when he repeatedly played some mass of something that was supposed to warn the attendees that it is almost time to go home. That brings me to the problematic part:

It ended at 3 am!!!

What kind of a party ends at 3 am????
I was just getting started!

(the free entry one. Oh well, I knew there was a catch somewhere...)

Nevertheless, I still had loadsa fun and saw plenty of cutie-pies and I would warmly recommend this party to anyone who has not been yet.

Talk soon,

XOXO,

Vanity

And here is the official video for the upcoming pride.
I am not particularly enraged.
See it for yourself.

Puzzled

This is a commercial video for the opening party for the upcoming pride. Look at it:

I am a little haunted by this. Where are the other people?
Why is it called Hungaricum? Someone forgot to mention that they meant it tongue in cheek. Oh wait, they didn´t.

And please, lay of the Gaga thing. She is so NOT hot right now.

Ranting

Now, maybe I am a little bit cranky today, but in all cases I need to complain a bit.

Firstly, let me stress it:  I am not an idiot.

Let us start with how I address my audience: LGBQT ...? Yes, I have done that. Sometimes I mess up the order, and often I miss categories out. It may be insulting. I am aware of that. I am not telling you to get used to it. I am telling you to complain! Please do!

Let us move on quickly before I say I am sorry. There would be really little point to that before anyone has even addressed a complaint yet.

Second issue is the amount of events for ladies. Take one look at this blog and see that most of these events are planned for gay male population. All the clubs that I have mentioned so far are planned for gay male audience. There is not one single gayelle club in this town. Not one. Off course, many of the gay clubs let women in, but how does that look like in reality? Approximately there is one woman for nine men - you know what I mean. That is just unacceptable. One of the reasons why most lady parties allow women only is precisely because women are so underrepresented in the Budapest party life. It is obvious that there is a need for a secluded scene, because otherwise all we have is a scattered bunch of nothing. But is that the final goal, is that completely satisfying? How do we want our entertainment?

ENTERTAINMENT ______________________

(it echoes and bounces off the walls for a couple of moments while I pause to think - entertainment....is....a free sample of liberty....is it now?  I know I need it. I know everyone needs it...Still, it bounces a little more of the hollow surface within my head.....)Anyway....

I will not rank the clubs, there is no point to it. Coxx, Action Bar, AlterEgo, lalala, are clubs by men and for men.  If you see women there they are most probably fag hags. Not exclusively.  Is this too sour? Maybe I am overacting, but that there is a under-representation of gayelles is something everyone is aware of. Budapest needs to grow. It needs more lesbian visibility, and more lesbian spaces. That is a fact.

Let's rank Budapest LQGBTIA events (hoppa, does it work this time, no complaints?):

First a list of events that happen more or less ordinarily - I will not count club nights:

Brutko Diszko
Chicken Exit
Confetti
Szkafander
Bad Taste
Papa Don't Vogue
Ossztrosokk
Prestige
Candy Party

Ammm, is this all????

Seriously, all?

PLEASE; pretty please with cherry on top correct me if I am wrong, but I think that is about it!!!!

And then it goes like this:

Men only: -

Women only: Ossztrosokk.

Now there are several ways to refer to this category, noone is really sure how to, but everyone tries their best:

Mixed, queer, straight friendly, and so on: Brutko Diszko, Bad Taste, Papa Don't Vogue, Szkafander, COnfetti, Chicken Exit, Candy Party.

Hm. Interesting.

I do not think I am getting anywhere like this. According to this there should be almost a balance of attendees with the exclusion of Ossztrosokk, but I know that there is not!
Of all the mixed events the only event close to really being mixed, to put it that way if I have to, is Brutko Diszko. I will have to make an interview with the organizers to ask how they are doing it.

I did not get anywhere, but that is how it is with ranting.

I will still report as soon as I find something!!!!

RAZZLE DAZZLE PRIDE MELTDOWN!!!!

Heya my dear LGQBTs,

I have been a little, ammmm, busy sorting out some very important personal issues and that is why I did not post anything for last Saturday. But as avid readers I imagine you to be, you could have checked that I have already done my homework prior to Saturday, so I did not really  leave you informationless like fish on the dry land.

Also, avid readers may notice that what I am about to write down has already been mentioned earlier in this blog. Still, I suspect that information needs to be updated more frequently to be more valid, therefore I repeat it just in case it does not get heard, thus highlighting my goal, which is: to inform.
